At Archbishop Temple we believe that literacy teaching is the responsibility of every teacher in every curriculum subject. It is central to everything we do and literacy skills are a vitally important for your child.

Reading is central to every young person's ability to learn and develop.  Because of this, we encourage pupils to read for pleasure and have really developed our school library to ensure we provide a wide range of age appropriate and engaging reading books. We are also in the process of ensuring every pupil is a member of Lancashire Library Service so that they can access books for free on their iPads via their app Borrowbox.

Goodreads is the world’s largest site for readers and book recommendations. The site enables people to find and share books they love. Also, you or your child can see which books their friends are reading; track the books they're reading, have read and want to read; check out personalised book recommendations and read community reviews.  Have a look at the site for a list of new children's and young adult books.

The right book in the right hands at the right time
can change the world.
