A selection of new books has arrived in our school library. The books, a blend of children's teenage and young adult titles, have been requested by our pupils.
"'The Land of Stories' is a fantasy series written by American singer and actor Chris Colfer," said Mrs Dearden, School Librarian. "The book set was requested by a year 7 pupil who runs a book club in the library."
The new selection of books also includes titles by Cathy Cassidy, aimed at younger pupils, and Kendare Blake's 'Three Dark Crowns' series, a set of fantasy stories aimed at the young adult 14-16 age group. Finally, 'No One is Too Small to make a Difference' by climate activist Greta Thunberg, is also a new addition to the library. Published earlier this year, it contains a collection of eleven speeches which Thunberg wrote and presented about global warming and climate change.
After lunch, period 5 starts with a quiet read for five minutes. Pupils must come to school with a book to read in their bag each day. If they don't have one, they are encouraged to use the school library at break or lunchtime where they will find a wide variety of titles to choose from.
