Our school library was delighted to receive a delivery of forty free books from the Book Trust yesterday. The Book Trust is the UK’s largest reading charity that reaches children across the UK, via children’s centres, schools, libraries and health professionals, with books resources and support to help develop a love of reading.
“It was fantastic to receive the School Library Pack yesterday,” said Mrs Dearden, School Librarian. “It contains six sets of books that can be read by our library book clubs. There are some brilliant titles, which I am sure they will enjoy reading and discussing. Lightning Mary tells the true story of Mary Anning, a fossil hunter who eventually becomes a Victorian palaeontologist. Her discoveries contributed to changes in scientific thinking about the history of the earth.”
The free pack contains fifteen titles, split across three categories - Future Classics, Reluctant Readers and Non-Fiction.
“The Book Trust have also sent books which I know will appeal to our pupils, such as the graphic novel Crush and Mega Robo Revenge. 100 Things to Know About Numbers, Computing and Coding, Business for Beginners and This Book is Not Rubbish are all non-fiction titles that are relevant to our pupils.”
The Book Trust website contains some useful book lists, recommendations, and tips and advice for parents and carers hoping to encourage a love of reading at home. Many thanks to the Book Trust, our pupils will certainly benefit from the School Library Pack.
