An avid Harry Potter fan has very kindly donated a special 20th Anniversary Edition of Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets to the school library. Ethan, in year 8, donated a Hufflepuff edition of JK Rowling’s second book in the popular Harry Potter series.

“To celebrate the 20th anniversary of the Harry Potter books, JK Rowling’s publishers decided to publish some of the Harry Potter books as House editions,” said Ethan. “I have a collection featuring the Gryffindor, Ravenclaw and Slytherin editions. I have so many I wanted to donate one to the library.”

Ethan has been a fan of Harry Potter for a few years, “I watched the films with my mum and first I wasn’t keen. Then I started reading the books and grew to love it. I’ve been the Harry Potter Studios Tour, near London and I took a photo of the big dragon by the entrance. I’d love to go to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Florida. My auntie has been and she said it was amazing.”

“It was lovely to receive such a beautiful book, donated to the library by one of our pupils,” said Mrs Dearden, School Librarian. “A book plate is placed inside each book donated to the library, featuring the name of the person who donated it. It was really thoughtful of Ethan to donate such a special book.”

To celebrate Harry Potter Book Night our school library will be holding a special Harry Potter party at lunchtime on Thursday 6th February 2020.

“Our pupil librarians have been busy helping to create decorations for the celebration,” said Mrs Dearden. “I have lots of activities planned, including Pin the Scar on Harry Potter, a Sorting Hat Ceremony, a Harry Potter Quiz and a Harry Potter word search.”

If you would like to donate any books to our school library, please drop them off at our school reception marked for the attention of Mrs Dearden. Please include the name of the person donating the books, so that a book plate can be placed inside each book donated.
