Theme of the week: CONQUERORS

We’re getting to the end of God’s big story, this week speaks mainly about the future.  God’s plan to restore us from the fall, sin and chaos secures eternity with him.  Coming back from the grave Jesus provided a way for us to restore our relationship with him.  God rescues people from hell and saves into heaven, those who trust in him.  They will be conquerors over death, for eternity.

Monday – Bible Reading

Rom 8:31-39

31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

       “For your sake we are being killed all the day long;

we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Matthew 18:10-14

10 “See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that in heaven their angels always see the face of my Father who is in heaven. 12 What do you think? If a man has a hundred sheep, and one of them has gone astray, does he not leave the ninety-nine on the mountains and go in search of the one that went astray? 13 And if he finds it, truly, I say to you, he rejoices over it more than over the ninety-nine that never went astray. 14 So it is not the will of my Father who is in that one of these little ones should perish.

Lord Jesus,

We thank you for the love you showed us when you gave your son Jesus to die in our place.  Thank you for making a way for us to enter heaven and enjoy eternal life.  Lord, please help us to learn more about this love so that we may enjoy it here on earth and share it with others.

Wednesday – Discussion

Discuss in small groups or as a class.

  • Can you recap God’s Big Story – from creation to the conquerors?
  • What do you think heaven and hell will be like?
  • Do you think it is fair that some people will go to hell?

You’re plan from the beginning was to rescue people from eternity in hell.  Your hand has been at work throughout history to show the wonderful work of your grace.  Help us to think about the big story that we are in remembering the free gift of salvation in you.  Thank you for your grace, help us live each day enjoying your blessings.

Friday – Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.
