Worship for the Week: w/c – 14.6.2021

Monday – Bible Reading // Year 7 Collective Worship in hall (Andy)

Hebrews 12 1-3 (MSG)

Do you see what this means—all these pioneers who blazed the way, all these veterans cheering us on? It means we’d better get on with it. Strip down, start running—and never quit! No extra spiritual fat, no parasitic sins. Keep your eyes on Jesus, who both began and finished this race we’re in. Study how he did it. Because he never lost sight of where he was headed—that exhilarating finish in and with God—he could put up with anything along the way: Cross, shame, whatever. And now he’s there, in the place of honor, right alongside God. When you find yourselves flagging in your faith, go over that story again, item by item, that long litany of hostility he plowed through. That will shoot adrenaline into your souls!

Lord Jesus, we will be every grateful for the price you paid for us.

The perseverance you showed enduring the cross finished the task at hand.

Help us to take inspiration for our faith from the example you set.

Tuesday – Discussion // Year 8 Collective Worship in hall (Andy)

How have you persevered during the last year?

  • School / home / lockdown / work / sickness / stress

Can you be encouraged that you’ve made it through hard times and can get through them again?

How can you take inspiration from Jesus’ example?

Father God we have endured many trials over the last year.  Thank you for your help as we have done so.  Help us this half term to persevere and finish well.  Help us to focus and give our best.  Amen

Wednesday – Reflection // Year 9 Collective Worship in hall (Andy)

Listen to this music.  Read the lyrics.  Have a moment of stillness to yourself and think about these two things;

  • Is there anything you need to persevere through now?
  • How about praying to God and asking him to help you.
  • Do you know anyone who is persevering through something at the moment?  Maybe you could ask God to help them through.

Thursday – Reflection // Year 10 Collective Worship in hall (Andy)

Can you think of inspiring people that you have gained inspiration from?  Maybe a family member, sports hero, character in a film.

Share in small groups or as a class about someone who inspires you.  Can you take inspiration from them and can they help you persevere?

How can Jesus inspire you to persevere?  Think again about the bible reading from Monday.

Lord Jesus, we thank you for the persevering examples we have around us and we thank you for being the perfect example.  Help us to persevere in our faith.  Please encourage us during difficult times and help us remember that you are with us.  Amen

Friday – Video

In collective worship this week I told a story about Wilma Rudolph.  Here is a video about her.

Allow the story to inspire you in life and in faith.

Keep going and persevere.  God is with you and can give you his strength.

Lord’s Prayer

Our Father in heaven,

hallowed be your name,

your kingdom come,

your will be done,

on earth as in heaven.

Give us today our daily bread.

Forgive us our sins

as we forgive those who sin against us.

Lead us not into temptation

but deliver us from evil.

For the kingdom, the power,

and the glory are yours

now and for ever.
