The languages department has some exciting plans to mark the Spanish celebration  'Dia de la Hispanidad' on Monday 12th October. This is the day on which the Spanish people commemorate Christopher Columbus first setting foot on American soil in 1492. Columbus set sail from the Spanish port of Palos de la Frontera on 3rd August 1492 and landed on an island, now part of the Bahamas, on 12th October 1492.

There will be a Main Hall assembly for the four houses as well as special activities during lessons.

The Cathedral Cafe is also joining in the fun with a specially themed menu including:

Chicken chorizo panini

Mediterranean chicken wraps

Chilli con carne

Cinnamon swirls with chocolate sauce
