On Fri 11th November 2016 pupils involved in Archbishop Temple School’s Lancashire Book of the Year team attended an author event at County Hall, Preston. Last year's winner of the award, author Holly Bourne, shared her experiences of writing and her delight at winning the Book of the Year. She covered important topics including equality and women's rights. She created a better understanding of what it means to be a feminist and talked about how boys can be feminists too! The event was really entertaining. Today's teenagers could relate to it, Holly added humour at the perfect time which raised a smile and a few laughs from the audience. There was time for a short question and answer session, allowing students to find out a bit more about how she finds time and inspiration for her books.

The final part of the event allowed time to purchase copies of her books and an opportunity to get them signed by Holly and to have a quick private word. Holly was interesting and interested. Many of the students purchased books, had them signed and were looking forward to getting stuck into some reading!
