On Friday 21st June, staff and pupils donned their freshly designed house t-shirts and spent the morning cheering on their house, for our annual school sports day.

The day began with the 100 metre sprints, the field events followed; shot putt, long jump and high jump. Meanwhile the track events continued with the 800, 200, 400 and 300 metre races. As the clouds cleared and the sun came out, pupils, and staff, stayed cool with ice-cold water and ice lollies. Following the impressive house cheerleading routines the relays got underway. After lunch, all staff and pupils gathered in the sports hall as Mr Baines, Director of Pupils, announced the winning house on sports day and the house with the most house points accrued during the year.

Well done to Luca in Year 7, he broke the school record for 200 metres, and well done to Kianna in year 10, who broke the school record for 300 metres.

The winning Houses in each year group were as follows;

Year 7

Girls - York

Boys - Canterbury

Year 8

Girls - Durham & Winchester

Boys - Winchester

Year 9

Year 10

Durham and Canterbury were joint third overall, Winchester second and we are delighted to announce that York House came first on Sports Day.

The overall house points winner for the year was Durham House. All staff and pupils from Durham will be enjoying a day out at Blackpool Pleasure Beach as a reward!
