Pupils have had a colourful morning in school, painting rocks in designs of their choosing. Pupils could choose to decorate their rocks with any design, in as many colours as they wished, using acrylic paints and pens.
“The idea stemmed from ‘Rammy Rocks’”, said Mrs Ashton, Head of RE. “Where children paint and varnish rocks to be placed in public places for others to find. We thought it would be a nice idea for pupils in school to paint rocks and they could then be used to decorate a flower bed in school, if they wished.”
The colourful rocks were adorned with a variety of designs and messages, including supportive messages for keyworkers and the NHS, a design featuring Mr Bump and the message ‘Stay Safe’ and another reading with a picture of a bee, saying ‘Be Kind’. After decorating, the rocks were placed in the oven to fasten the colour. Pupils could then choose whether they kept their rocks to take home or be used to decorate a flowerbed. We think they look beautiful.
