14 September 2020
This week, Monday 14th – Sunday 20th September 2020, people from across the UK are invited to wear jeans to raise money and help save lives in the national Jeans for Genes Day. This year we had planned to host our annual Jeans for Genes Day in school on Friday 18th September 2020, but unfortunately due to the COVID-19 pandemic and heighted procedures in place we are unable to proceed. This is very disappointing for all, most of all the Genetics Disorders Charity, as they will miss our contribution.
We are hoping to be able to hold an event to raise funds later in the school year, further details will follow if this is possible, until then I wanted to take this opportunity to inform you of ways that you as families can help support this charity.
Visit the Jeans for Genes Day website for further information on families, like Louie’s and Pamela’s, who need our help https://www.jeansforgenesday.org/educational-resources you can use the blue drop down in the centre of the page to select a family and play a video.
If you can wear denim as much as possible at home throughout this week, encourage the whole family to do the same and if you can, donate using the jeansforgenes.org/justgiving webpage selecting the ‘Individuals’ option. Every little helps, for example £25 will pay for one hour of specialist, telephone helpline support for parents.
You can show your support by taking photos of your family in their jeans using the hashtag #Jeansforgenes and sharing on the following platforms:

• Facebook - /JeansforgenesUK
• Instagram - @jeans_for_genes
