We would like to welcome back all our pupils after the Christmas and New Year break. We hope that you all enjoyed a restful holiday.
If your son or daughter received a mobile phone, pc, tablet or console for Christmas we advise that you take a look at the Online Safety section of the school website. At Archbishop Temple School we recognise the advantages of new technologies but as a school we are also acutely aware of its possible dangers.
Please be aware of social media networking platforms', such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Snapchat's, age limits. The document below explains at what age your child can start social networking. You maybe surprised to learn that some, including WhatsApp, should only be used by children over the age of 16.
If your child is already using social media we advise that you keep up-to-date with the features of each app your child is using and talk to them to ensure that they are using the social networking platforms safely. The second document below, 9 Red Flags Parents Should Know About, outlines the features of each app that you need to be aware of and how to talk to your child about them.
Both of these documents can be found in the Advice for Parents section of the Online Safety section of the school website.
If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to get in contact via the contact form on the school website.
The next Parents Forum Meeting will be an informative evening focusing on social media led by Mr P. Cairns, Assistant Headteacher and Miss Catterall, Head of IT and Computing. It will take place on 25 JANUARY 2018, 7.00PM – 8.00PM in the Music Block.
