Archbishop Temple Church of England High School is a high performing school and the teachers work hard to make sure our children get the best education possible. Unfortunately, the school budget cannot stretch to provide the additional facilities and equipment that we would all like to see in place. The PTA helps out by providing funding for these important ‘extras’.
In the past year, the money we have raised has funded a replacement door for the sports hall, part-funded the equipment for the school fitness suite, a pupil author talk in the Geography department, children's and young people's literature in European languages for the school library, new barriers for the school canteen and a Dragon's Den installment.
In previous years, money has contributed to portable dance mirrors for the Drama Department, new football and rugby goalposts for the Sports Department, a contribution towards several high cost musical pieces of equipment for the Music Department. The PTA paid for the new school library, blinds in the English Department, re-vamping of the Dining Room area, new pans for the Food Tech Department and funded Zoolab's amazing 'Rainforest Roadshow', a fun and informative educational workshop featuring exotic animals delivered to the whole of Year 7. We have also made several smaller donations to various departments such as high visibility jackets for children on car park duty at events.
Fundraising & Events
During lockdown, fundraising was still achievable with some creative thinking. An incredible £1150 was raised with an online Christmas raffle. We also had our best ever uptake with the 500 club. We raised £626 for the school
We are delighted to bring back our popular firework display this year, to be held on Friday 4th November. The event has a capacity of up to 1000 people and has sold out in the past. Be sure to buy your tickets in good time. We are also holding the ticket price at £5 for a single ticket and £17 for a family of 4 despite an increase in price of the fireworks. Pupils can participate in our 'Penny for the Guy' competition. £1 entry for a photograph of their homemade Guy Fawkes. The winner will be judged by the children and will get to go on the bonfire! Details will be sent out via the school messaging system.
Lots of ideas have been suggested for the next coming year including a cheese and wine evening and Christmas raffle so watch this space!
We run refreshment stalls at most school events and parents’ evenings with all profits from sales going towards school funds.

PTA 500 Club
Last year saw our best ever uptake of the 500 club with over 120 members. £10 per school year buys you a number that is put into a draw 3 times per year. The more members, the bigger the amount raised for school and the bigger the cash prize. Last years cash prizes were £134, £141 and £140 and £626 raised for school. You can join using the following link. We would love to get or members to 150!
You'll find lots of helpful information about the PTA 500 Club here.
How can I get involved?
Come along to one of our PTA meetings. Meetings are informal and it’s a great way to meet other parents and members of staff.
The PTA relies entirely on volunteers and although we appreciate monetary support what we really need is a willingness for more parents to get involved, even in a small way (for example, by helping with serving refreshments at an event). You won’t be pressured to give more time than you want but we would be grateful if you could give serious consideration to getting involved.
Meeting dates are all on the online calendar and all meetings are at 7.00pm and usually take place in the music block. If you fancy joining us for a coffee or well deserved glass of wine, we are combining a social and PTA meeting for our next meet up. The date will be posted on the online calendar. If you would like to attend, please contact us via the email below.
Many Thanks for your ongoing support
