My story

My memories of studying at Archbishop Temple are fantastic. I am grateful to have received a great education and to have made friends that I am still in touch with today. My time at Archbishop Temple really set me up well for my future.

After I left school I went on to study at college. Unfortunately I did not enjoy this as much as school. This was a large factor in my decision to pursue an apprenticeship after college rather than continue on to university.

In my first working role, I completed four NVQ qualifications under an apprenticeship scheme over a four year period. This gave me a fantastic foundation for the rest of my working life. I was able to continue learning but in a more practical format which really suited my style of learning.

I am currently the General Manager at Schudio, a company that makes websites for schools. I have worked for the company for 4 years and have progressed into my current role. The thing I enjoy most about my role is the variety. I love working on multiple projects with different team members and clients to achieve the goal that is unique to that particular project. Our industry is fast paced and changes often which really pushes me to learn constantly so I can support all of our clients well.

My advice to you:

My advice to any pupils would be that each stage of your career/studies are as important as each other. While you may not walk into your dream job straight from education, it is important to work hard and commit yourself to each stage of your career in order to gather all of the vital skills and experiences that you will need to progress on to the next.

I would also encourage pupils to form good habits as early as possible. Working hard, having a positive attitude, being organised, communicating clearly are all really important in the workplace and you can start to practice these at any point in your life.
