Home Learning
Archbishop Temple Church of England High School believes that the setting and completion of high-quality homework makes a vital contribution to the progress of all students.
Homework will:
Enrich the curriculum whilst promoting independent learning
Consolidate and extend work or prepare for new learning activities
Provide relevant and regular opportunities to develop examination skills and techniques
Provide opportunities to revise and revisit material covered in class
Expectations:
Key Stage 3 – 30 mins per subject per week
Key Stage 4 – 45 mins per subject per week
All pupils are expected to complete homework for their core subjects as per the homework timetable and when set additionally by non-core subjects. In addition, it is expected that students should review their learning on a regular basis.
All homework is set on Firefly, which shows the homework set by each subject and teacher, full details and resources for the task set and the date that the task is due.
All pupils and parents/carers also have their own independent logins for Firefly.
To support parents/carers we publish homework timetables which can be downloaded here
Homework Timetables
Archbishop Temple Church of England High School embraces the policy of inclusion. Where pupils have statements of special educational needs, due regard will be paid to the recommendations therein. There may be situations where homework may need to be modified accordingly to suit the individual concerned. This should be done in consultation with the class teacher and Head of Department in the first instance, who will discuss with the SENDCO.
Homework can be completed in the library after school Monday – Thursday until 4:30pm

Effective Revision Habits & Strategies
We encourage all pupils to live out our School motto to 'Shine God's Light through Faith, Nurture and Service' so they are able to make the most out of their time at school.
