At Archbishop Temple Church of England High School, your safety and well-being are the most important things to us. We’re here to make sure you feel safe, supported, and happy both in and out of school.

What is Safeguarding?

Safeguarding means that we’re dedicated to keeping you safe from harm, whether at school, at home, or online. This includes protecting you from any kind of abuse, bullying, or anything that might make you feel unsafe.

Who Can You Talk To?

If you ever feel worried, unsafe, or just want someone to talk to, there are many people who are here for you:
Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - This is a staff member whose job is to help you with any safeguarding issues. You can speak with them if something’s troubling you.

Trusted Adults -  You can also talk to your teachers, school counsellor, or any other adult at school you trust.
Signs of When to Ask for Help

It’s okay to ask for help whenever something doesn’t feel right to you. This could include:

  • Being hurt or threatened.
  • Feeling uncomfortable or scared because of someone’s behaviour.
  • Experiencing bullying (in-person or online).
  • Worrying about things happening at home or school.

If any of these apply to you, or if you’re just feeling unhappy or unsafe, please reach out. We’re here to listen.

Staying Safe Online

Being online is part of everyday life, but it’s also important to stay safe. Here are a few tips:

  • Tell Someone if anything online makes you uncomfortable or if someone you don’t know tries to contact you.
  • Be Careful with Personal Information: Avoid sharing private details like your address, phone number, or where you go to school.
  • Think Before You Post: Remember that anything you post online could stay there for a long time, so make sure you’re comfortable with others seeing it.

Your Rights and Responsibilities

You have the right to feel safe, respected, and protected. Everyone at school, including your classmates, teachers, and staff, works together to create a safe and caring environment. You also have a responsibility to treat others with respect and to follow school rules that help keep everyone safe.

Who Else Can Help?

You can report any concerns you have for yourself, or your peers by using the ‘Whisper Button’ on Firefly.

You can also email: safe@archbishoptemple.com

You can report concerns to a parent, family member, or someone else you trust.
Remember, there is always someone you can talk to. We’re here to help you feel safe, protected, and supported, so don’t hesitate to reach out whenever you need us.
