York House has chosen ‘Young Minds’ as this year’s charity. The charity has been set up to help and support adolescents with mental health and other arising anxiety issues. The charity has been chosen by our pupils to both ‘raise awareness’ and also because it has proved an important subject matter to many of our youngsters at ATS.

York House is asking all staff and pupils to wear something yellow on Tuesday 10th October 2017, Mental Health Day, in order to show their consideration of fellow colleagues and peers who experience anxiety problems and in recognition and support of the growing number of children and young adults who are struggling to cope with the pressures of growing up and need specialist care and provision in order to overcome their ‘demons’.

It is suggested that each pupil pays £1 to the charity for wearing a yellow item (school uniform must still be worn along with the item) and the Year 11 pupils have a variety of money making events also planned for during the whole ‘Mental Health Awareness’ week (9th – 13th Oct).
