Dear Parent/Carer

As part of Year 7 Spirituality Day, on Tuesday 24th November 2020, we will be focusing on stewardship and looking after God’s creation. As part of this, pupils in year 7 along with members of staff will be planting over 160 trees in the grounds of the school in support of Eco Schools. This has obvious environmental benefits but we would also like it to help us raise money for one of the international schools we have links with, Elunyu School in Kenya. Our aim is to raise at least £150 to help the school develop their facilities.

As part of the Archbishop of York Youth Trust Award, we empower pupils to make a difference. Therefore, we are kindly asking pupils to make a small donation on the day to try to achieve or exceed our target. If all pupils could donate £1 then we would reach our target. Pupils will each be given their own tree to plant. They will also be given a nametag, with their name on, to attach to the tree.

Please could I ask you to provide your child with appropriate dress for the weather?

· Waterproofs

· Wellies or walking boots- a change of socks if they are in walking boots

· Gloves

· A trowel if possible, but not essential

We hope that you are able to support us in fundraising for Elunyu School in Kenya by sponsoring a tree.

Kind regards

Mr Tidswell
