- Ensure that your child has a challenging reading book in their bag every day. They will be given the opportunity to read during lessons and tutorials, whenever possible.
- Read with your child. You don't even have to read out loud. Just sit back and relax with a book each and enjoy the peace and quiet! We hope parents will listen to their child read at least twice each week.
- Check the suitability of their book. Is it sufficiently challenging? Check the recommended readling lists for suitability and challenge.
- Test your child on subject specific spellings.
- Take a trip to the local library.
- Remember reading can be in any form: fiction, non-fiction, newspapers, magazines...
