Thursday 27th January marks Holocaust Memorial Day. It is 77 years since Auschwitz-Birkenau was liberated. Each year we reflect on this day, and try to think as Christians how we can pray and encourage peace, which is our Christian value for this half term.
Holocaust Memorial Day is the theme of our school worship for this week. Pupils in years 7 and 8 will be watching a video prepared by Miss Porter, Teacher of History, for pupils and staff to remember this day. Pupils in years 9 to 11 will be attending collective worship, led by Joe Houghton, on the theme of Holocaust Memorial Day.
Here is our prayer for today.
Ever-living God,
We remember those whom you have gathered from the storm of war, genocide and oppression, into the peace of your presence;
may that same peace calm our fears, bring justice to all peoples and establish harmony among the nations,
through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
