Thank you to all the parents, carers and members of staff who nominated our school to win £1,000 of National Book Tokens for our school library, as well as a year’s membership to the School Library Association. We are delighted to announce that Archbishop Temple Church of England High School is one of five lucky schools to win!
“We are absolutely delighted that we can enrich what we offer to our pupils in our school library by winning these tokens,” said Mrs Baybutt, Lead Practitioner in Literacy and Vocabulary. “We are looking forward to including more diversity in our fiction section, as well as helping all departments in the school to complement their curriculum offer in both fiction and non-fiction.”
“We will also offer some of the tokens as prizes as an incentive for our new library reading scheme called 'Bookopoly' - Watch this space!"
National Book Tokens, in association with the charity Read for Good, launched the competition this summer asking parents and teachers to nominate their school to win £1,000 of National Book Tokens, plus membership to the School Library Association. The prize is to help winning schools to rebuild their range of books and encourage reading for pleasure now and for generations to come.
National Book Tokens have inspired booklovers for more than 90 years, empowering readers to choose just the right books for them. National Book Tokens gift cards are accepted in hundreds of bookshops across the UK and Ireland, and online. They are available to purchase in bookshops, supermarkets, or online – including personalised and e-Gift cards, and Bookily – there are designs for book lovers of all ages and for all occasions.
Read for Good encourages children to love reading. The charity works in schools and hospitals across the UK to make reading accessible and fun. You may already be familiar with Read for Good as our school has taken part in Read for Good’s Readathon.
Many thanks to National Book Tokens and Read for Good for selecting our school to win!
