The school library was a hive of activity at break as the World Book Day book swap got underway. Pupils who had brought in a book to swap earlier in the week were able to exchange their Book Swap Tokens for one that had been donated to the book swap. Pupils could choose from a range of titles including novels from Tolkien's Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter and Tom Gates series, as well as books penned by Jacqueline Wilson, Roald Dahl and David Walliams amongst others. We were delighted by the number of books that had been donated. It was fantastic to see the book swap so busy!

As well as the book swap, there was a number of free World Book Day books being given away to pupils. Pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 also had the opportunity to take part in an amusing video quiz created by Ms O'Malley, Second in English, featuring twenty five of the teaching staff acting out scenes from books. To give you a taster, take a look at Mr Stringfellow acting out a character here.

To add to the World Book Day fun, staff from the English department arrived at school dressed up as characters from their favourite books. Pupils also found out about some of our other teachers' favourite books promoting discussions throughout school on joy of reading. At lunch, pupils in the library took part in book binding and making up stories using story cubes. Thank you to everyone who took part in celebrating this year's World Book Day.
