We were delighted to welcome Dawn Stobbart, Associate Lecturer at Lancaster University, to school today to talk to pupils in years 7, 8 and 9 about graphic novels and Manga. This fascinating session looked at what a graphic novel is, the difference between a graphic novel and Manga and the differences between Manga and Anime.
Pupils looked at the elements of a graphic novel and there was the opportunity for pupils to create their own Manga storyboard and caption it.
"The pupils were really engaged and loved creating their own Manga storyboard in the second part of the session," said Mrs Baybutt, Lead Practitioner in Literacy and Vocabulary. "One pupil commented on how the session was over too quickly, he was enjoying it so much!"
Thank you to Dawn for coming in today and delivering the session to pupils in key stage 3.
