Earlier this term, Mrs Jimenez, Head of Modern Foreign Languages, invited pupils to enter the Languages Local to You Photography competition.
The competition was set up by the Department of Languages, Cultures, and Visual Studies at the University of Exeter to celebrate the UK's cultural diversity. The university invited pupils from secondary schools across the UK to take a photo showing languages other than English in their local area - shop signs, bilingual street signs, film posters, advertisements and so on. They had to submit their entry with a brief caption, describing why and how the language is used in their chosen photograph.
We have had some super entries into the competition! Mrs Jimenez will be selecting some to enter and the top 30 entries from across the UK will feature in an exhibition touring Exeter, London, and Sheffield. We’ll keep you updated with any news.
