Year 10 GCSE Geographers conducted their compulsory fieldwork along the Fylde Coast last week. Their Human Geography Fieldwork involved investigating Urban Regeneration in Blackpool central business district, whilst their Physical Geography Fieldwork involved evaluation of coastal management strategies at Rossall Beach, Cleveleys.
Pupils also took the opportunity to explore salt marsh ecosystems at Lytham salt marsh, in support of their knowledge and understanding of river processes and river management of the Ribble Estuary. They also visited the Starr Hills Dunes SSSI to learn about coastal management soft engineering techniques, in light of recent DEFRA funding and conservation initiatives.
