The nativity scene looks beautiful with the morning sunshine beaming through the William Mitchell designed Grade II abstract stained glass window. During last week’s Collective Act of Worship we reflected on Jesus' statement 'I AM the light of the world.'
As we now start to think about the Christmas season, the verses below become a popular reading this time of year. They remind us that Jesus is the eternal Son of God. The creator of all things and the light of all people. It was the first Christmas when the light of life became clearer for people - Jesus is the light that was promised for centuries. The fear of darkness is no longer necessary, the saviour brought us his light. Over the next week, many living rooms will begin to twinkle with lights and candles. Let's remember, Jesus' light has shone in the dark.

Reading
1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 He was in the beginning with God. 3 All things were made through him, and without him was not any thing made that was made. 4 In him was life, and the life was the light of men. 5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
(John 1:1–5)
