It is World Book Day! To celebrate, we have been hosting a range of book related activities in school throughout the week.
The week began with a brilliant book swap in the library. Pupils had the opportunity to swap their Book Swap tokens for a pre-loved children’s title. Pupils also had the opportunity to pick up and read a free World Book Day publication. Mr Catlow’s book quiz took place on Wednesday. All pupils had fun answering quiz questions based on staff members’ favourite works of fiction displayed around the school! On Wednesday, in the library, pupils made origami hearts and wrote messages inside the hearts explaining why they love reading. On Thursday, pupils in the library learned book binding and made their own mini books. Tomorrow, pupils have the opportunity to create bookmarks.
This seems like the perfect opportunity to remind year 9 parents and carers that author Julian Sedgwick will be joining us on Wednesday 20th March to talk to all pupils in year 9 about his acclaimed novel for children, Tsunami Girl. You can find out more about his visit on our school website, here
