At Archbishop Temple Church of England High School, we are committed to supporting the mental health and well-being of all our pupils and staff. We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the School Mental Health Award by the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools in recognition of our outstanding work in making a difference to pupils’ lives through supporting their mental health and wellbeing.
“After working towards the Carnegie Centre of Excellence for Mental Health in Schools award for the past year, we are thrilled to announce that we have achieved the award at silver level,” said Mrs Bridges, Mental Health and Wellbeing Lead at Archbishop Temple. “This is prestigious award looks closely at all 8 of the government's Mental Health in Schools strands including our work with our pupils and their parents or carers as well as our staff and our wider community.”
The Department for Education recognises the direct link between positive mental health in schools and successful educational outcomes; the Mental Health Award for Schools builds on this link and provides a framework for educational institutions to evidence policies and initiatives that work towards improving emotional health and wellbeing for both staff and pupils.
“We had to show evidence that we have embedded good practice in all of our work, that our curriculum supports learning about how to support mental wellbeing and that we are able to access external support for our pupils from our community partners. We also work closely with other local schools and providers so that we can share good practice and learn from each other,” said Mrs Bridges. “It was really pleasing to see all our hard work celebrated and appreciated. Thank you very much to everyone in our community who supported us to achieve this award, we could not have done it without everyone working together.”
