Each year, the Historical Association runs Young Quills, a competition for published historical fiction for children and young adults. The Young Quills books for each year must be published for the first time in English in the year preceding the competition – so 2023 for this year’s selection.
Pupils from Archbishop Temple Church of England High School have enjoyed judging the books and writing reviews. The reviews are used as the basis for the Historical Association to create the shortlist from which the winners are selected.
This year 14 pupils have taken part in reading and writing reviews of the books. In total they have read and reviewed 24 books.
You can find out more about the Young Quills competition and the longlist here on the Young Quills website.
