Pi Day is celebrated on the 14th March (3/14) around the world. Pi (Greek letter “π”) is the symbol used in mathematics to represent a constant — the ratio of the circumference of a circle to its diameter — which is approximately 3.14159. Pi Day is an annual opportunity for maths enthusiasts to recite the infinite digits of Pi.

Mr Hewitt, Second in Maths, held a Pi competition at lunch for pupils in years 7. The competition was fierce, with our year 7 pupils battling it out for the top spot hoping to beat Molly's record of reciting Pi to 79 digits set in 2022. They all did incredibly well with winner Jehanna H hitting the year 7 top spot, reciting Pi to 103 digits and breaking the year 7 record!

Here are the rest of the scores from year 7;

Nathan S - 28, Neha S - 46, Philippa M - 46, Martha M - 49, Amelia R - 49, Alina B - 54, Hibbaan A - 76, Daniel V (runner-up) - 101

Well done to everyone who entered!
