On Saturday 15th June 2024, Archbishop Temple Church of England High School's 60th Birthday celebrations kicked off at 10am. The weather held its breath for most of the morning, the stalls were bustling, amazing food smells from a traditional English food vendor to freshly cooked Indian cuisine filled the air and there were tasty pancakes with all kinds of toppings, a feast for the best!

The school's very own DJ, Des Grant, a former pupil of Archbishop Temple was spinning the decks for the alumni in the main hall.

The atmosphere was electric as old friends linked up for the first time in years and their children looked colourful with faces painted by Linzi Holding; rainbows and glitter were the order of the day.

As the rain fell briefly, music filled the air as the amazing school bands played their sets to the crowd. Following the bands, an array of dancers took to the stage in the main hall and displayed a medley of street and ballet dances, group and solo performances. They were spectacular!

A school tour for former staff and pupils proved to be extremely popular, with some alumni even accompanying the Mayor of Preston, Councillor Phil Crowe.

As the fun day ended there was an amazing Archbishop Temple PTA raffle, with 68 prizes up for grabs! Raffle ticket holders had the chance of winning a hospitality ticket for a family of 4 for the 2024-25 QPR vs PNE game, a signed PNE football and family meals from some of the best restaurants in town including Ginger Bistro, Haighton Manor and many more!

Mr Catlow, Headteacher, and Mrs Dudeniac, Deputy Headteacher, agreed the school’s 60th Birthday Celebration Family Fun Day had been an amazing success.

Justine Sumner, Chair of the PTA, said, “We faced a few challenges with being let down at the last minute with fairground rides and a pizza van, but we soon overcame them with last minute replacements. This and a little rain could not spoil our party! I am so proud to be part of the amazing team that is FABS (Friends of Archbishop Temple Church of England School). Here’s to our next event!”
